A blip in our non-plan

We have a couple items to take care of on the motorhome.  The drivers side window has progressively become more foggy and Tim has difficulty seeing through it while driving. To replace the window is expensive. We use a company in Phoenix that will remove and clean the double pane window; then reseal and install it. Our more serious problem are the jacks aren't leveling the coach. Time to put that extended warranty to work.

At this point we were in beautiful southwest Colorado. We have so much to see but we need to have these items addressed so we make the decision to go to Phoenix, AZ for repairs. This deviation makes me a very un-happy camper. Phoenix in July is not where we intended to be.  However, it is closer than I'd thought and we know the people that will be working on our home; so off we go. Hopefully we'll be in and out within a week.

Once again I realize we can have a good time anywhere. Even in 100 + degree heat. First thing we do is call our good friend Kay to let her know we'll be going out for sushi together!

We are staying at Canyon Vistas - our go-to resort east of Phoenix. The rates are half price during the summer. We went to a potluck with Rick & Faith, her dad Glenn; Bruce and Dona and their daughter Traci & Mike her husband. Surprisingly there are about 40 people in the park year-round.

We meet at the pool because it's just too damn hot to do anything else.

OK, now it's been over a week. The hydraulic pump had failed and a new one needed to be fabricated. The new piece turned out to be wrong, so now we waiting on a entire new assembly. It's the waiting game.

Meanwhile, my sister Chris and her husband Chuck have a new place at the Colorado River so we drive the car over to meet them one weekend. That's the bougainvillea house on the hillside between the Keys and the Casino

Tim helped Chuck with some projects and we went swimming in the water a few times a day.

Party bar, pool table, fireplace, separate casita. And Chuck-a-ritas's

Senor Edwardo - Mr. Ed, the miner's mule from Mexico

We went boating and had lunch at the Den. We checked out our winter spot at Sundance - it was only about a third full. There are stairs and sand at the three beaches but no construction on the pool or clubhouse. The second row that is supposed to be completed by Nov. hasn't changed since we left.

This is how you beat the heat at 112 degrees.

Fun bar action!

Back at Canyon Vistas, our kind and generous friends Faith and Rick have offered to let us stay in a casita they rented for her father who, sadly, has recently passed. It is a new bright, airy, one-bedroom home at Superstition Views. We enjoyed the extra space and beautiful sunset views on the margarita deck over the garage.

We drove the car to Prescott one day to enjoy cooler temps and check out some RV parks in the area. We took a walk by Watson Lake Park.

We have been here three weeks and two days. Yes, I'm counting the days. The daily temps have averaged about 105 and lows of 82 at night. Thankfully, there is no humidity except during the monsoons which happen occasionally in the late afternoon. Yes, beauty does flourish in the desert.

Yea for one more day with Kay!
