A Victorian Town

Tim is getting tired of the foggy coastline so we head south looking for sunshine. We land in Fortuna, CA about 40 miles south of Eureka and northern gateway to the Avenue of the Giants. I tell you, this city is the friendliest city I have ever been in. Everyone greets you, smiles, asks how you're doing, etc. They appear to be sincere. I love it. Unfortunately we have not escaped the coastal fog. This moisture after all is what keep the redwoods and other flora hydrated year round.

Nearby is the Victorian town of Ferndale. It is quaint and reasonably priced for tourism. I enjoyed walking around the town, cruising the shops and looking at the architecture. Good ice cream too.

The local cemetery is set up on the hillside overlooking the city.

The local museum showcases the lifestyles of its early inhabitants.
Does anyone remember party lines?
 These are for you Janet
