Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum

My brothers all remember the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum from when we lived in Tucson. I was age 6 weeks when we moved there and we left when I was 2 yrs old so I don't remember anything. In this outdoor maze of paths & exhibits, they do a fine job of educating and sharing the wonders of the desert.

We saw a show with raptors. Trainers release owls, hawks and ravens to fly free, skimming over our heads. They pose for pictures then voluntarily fly back to their museum homes. They can leave anytime, but chose to stay for the easy food.

This rattlesnake was born into captivity 23 years ago. During the demonstration we learned that most of the people who get bit by rattlers have been drinking and are missing a few teeth. The anti-venom costs about $5000 a vial and a person could need up to 20 vials. Ouch!

Poisonous Gila Monster

We spent hours walking around on the paths and enjoyed beautiful plants and animals.

Awww - Mommy's are the best.
