Old Bisbee and Queen Mine Tour

Driving closer to the Mexican border we stopped in Bisbee, AZ. This was an important mining town in the mid 1800's. There are over 2000 miles of tunnels under the city.

We were feeling brave and took the underground mining tour. After donning a bright green vest, we were fitted with a hard had, belt and given a light.

We straddled the cart and went into the earth

Deep inside the earth. We learned about the mining conditions, child labor and ....

..... where the miners did their doody. Believe it or not, it was those with highest seniority that were able to have the job of removing this cart. It was much less dangerous than the other jobs.......

...... like drilling holes in the rock, filling them with 100 sticks of dynamite and blasting away.

Open Pit Mine

Lots of retro buildings, cars, motorcycles, gas stations

Retro RV Park

The Long Long Trailer. Watch the movie starring Desi & Lucy as newlyweds in their home on wheels.

We had the best meal of our entire trip so far. And I didn't even take a picture of the restaurant or the food. What?! The restaurant was called Bisbee Table and I had the best Reuben Sandwich - it was the day before St. Patricks Day. And the most amazing Bread Pudding for dessert. OMG.
